Longspur Capital is a specialist investment manager in the clean energy sector with a strong track record of delivering projects and creating companies from inception through to successful exit. The team was responsible for building some of the largest independent feed-in tariff businesses in wind, hydro and bio-energy in the UK.
Operating since 2010, the team has completed over 100 renewable energy transactions including the successful exit of the largest UK feed-in tariff wind business in 2018 to the Malaysian state utility company Tenaga Nasional Berhad in a $250m transaction.
On a combined basis, a total investment of over £400 million into assets including solar PV, biomass, gas-to-grid, hydro, battery storage and wind projects in the UK and across Europe has been made. Longspur continues to provide asset management services to many of these projects today under long term contracts.

- Secured 20MW of planning consents
- Acquired, constructed and sold c.150MW of UK solar assets for ReneSola Ltd for an EV of > £180m

Track record: Biomass/ Biogas/ Hydro
Biomass:
- Developed 5.8MW of 200kW woodchip boilers with largest UK Turkey producer
- Developed 4.5MW 40,000 tonne per annum pellet plant
- Successful exit to French PE Firm in 2020
Biogas:
- Invested £45m of capital into four biogas plants (c.15MW)
- Successful exit of plant in £20M transaction to UK listed Yield Co in 2020
Hydro:
- Invested £40m of equity into 14x run-of-river hydro projects (c.20MW)
- Refinanced holding company in 2018 with institutional debt package
